  • Northern State University hires new Director of Communications and Marketing

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University is gaining a marketing expert who will bring extensive experience in digital and social media marketing to the campus.

    Chad Hatzenbuhler has accepted the role of Director of Communications and Marketing and will join the NSU team April 3.

  • NSU’s Ramey publishes book, ‘The Word-Hoard Beowulf’

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University’s Dr. Peter Ramey has published a book, “The Word-Hoard Beowulf: A Translation with Commentary.”

    The book, published by Angelico Press, is the first translation and popular commentary to take seriously the religious dimension of the epic poem.

  • NSU to host annual Science and Math Fair on March 30

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Thursday, March 30, 2023, will be the 40th year of the Northern South Dakota Science and Mathematics Fair, sponsored by Northern State University, 3M of Aberdeen and the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation.  

    The day starts out with approximately 50-60 judges from Aberdeen and surrounding areas judging projects and interviewing students.

  • Texas Tenors concert canceled

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony’s re-scheduled concert on Tuesday, March 21 featuring The Texas Tenors has been canceled.

    The Texas Tenors notified organizers that they would not be traveling to the event, citing weather concerns; thus, the decision was made to cancel the entire concert.  The concert will not be rescheduled.

    Refunds are available for anyone who has purchased tickets for this concert. To request a refund, please contact the Northern State University School of Fine Arts Office at 605-626-2497.

  • National History Day competition set for March 8 at NSU

    ABERDEEN, S.D. – Northern State University will host the annual National History Day regional competition on Wednesday, March 8.

    Over 200 middle and high school students from around northeastern South Dakota will be participating in the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at NSU. Northern hosts this event every spring.

    Winners at the regional competition are invited to go to the state competition, and winners of the state competition advance to the national competition.
