ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University students gained real-world experience and helped a nonprofit organization enhance its marketing efforts, thanks to a local partnership.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University Bands will present ¡°American Soundscapes¡± at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Jewett Theater.

The concert will feature performances by the Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. Audrey Miller; Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr. Terry Beckler; Low Brass Ensemble, directed by Dr. Travis Netzer; and String Ensemble, directed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar.

All tickets are general admission and will be available at the door. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and NSU faculty and staff.¡­

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University¡¯s spring 2023 Noon Forums will begin Wednesday, Feb. 8, at noon in the Beulah Williams Library Round Room.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Jon Schaff, NSU professor of government, who will present the topic, ¡°Against Critical Thinking.¡±

Schaff, director of Northern¡¯s Center for Public History and Civic Engagement, specializes in the study of American political thought and institutions. He has published on the presidency and political thought¡­

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University signed a teach-out agreement with Presentation College today to help students complete their degrees at Northern.

Northern has been working toward an academic agreement with PC for quite some time, prior to Presentation¡¯s recent announcement. Now, Northern has received approval from the Higher Learning Commission to move forward with the agreement.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C The Northern State University Theatre Program will present the play "Eurydice" in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Black Box Theater.

Performances will run at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16, 17 and 18 as well as at 3 p.m. Feb. 19.

Sarah Ruhl¡¯s ¡°Eurydice¡± harkens back to the Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus as young lovers who seek to find each other again in the Underworld¡­

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University¡¯s Dr. Nuurrianti Jalli has published a policy paper with the world-renowned public policy organization, the Brookings Institution.

The paper, titled ¡°Disinformation and Democracy in Malaysia,¡± was part of the Foreign Policy Democracy in Asia project, a collaborative effort by Jalli and fellow policy experts from around the world.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C Northern State University has named NSU alum and longtime regional educator Eric Kline as the Director of the Northern Academy.

As director, Kline will support and mentor high school students enrolled in Northern Academy, a new, on-campus academy for area students taking dual-credit courses.

¡°I¡¯m privileged to serve Northern State University and the Aberdeen community by fostering a deeper partnership between local high schools and Northern and by helping high school students transition to college,¡± Kline said.

ABERDEEN, S.D. ¨C The South Dakota Jazz Festival Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Northern State University Johnson Fine Arts Center.

The concert will feature performances by the Two O¡¯Clock Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Grant Manhart. Guest artists will include Ron Parker, piano, and other local talent.

Featured guest artist will be Summer Camargo, a trumpet student at The Juilliard School and Jerome Greene Fellowship recipient. Originally from Hollywood, Florida, Camargo recently won first place in the International Trumpet¡­
